Thursday, August 28, 2008 - GDP Surged in Second Quarter: The Commerce Department announced the revised gross domestic product figure for the second quarter rose to an annual rate of 3.3%, beating estimates. The GDP is the broadest measure of the nation's economic activity. The results seem to imply that the economy is more resilient than previous thought, and that inflation is not accelerating.
